Mr Justice M Tabassum Aftab Alvi, senior most judge of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court has been elevated as Chief Justice of High Court with immediate effect. Justice Alvi will take oath as Chief Justice on Tuesday. President Sardar Mohammad Masood Khan will administer the oath in a dignified ceremony to be attended by judges of the supreme and high courts, ministers and senior govt administrators.
Mr Justice M Tabassum Aftab Alvi has a long legal practicing career at his credit at the Muzaffarabad legal station. He belongs to Bagh distict of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Legal fraternities of AJK, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Bagh, Rawalakot, Kotli, Mirpur, Bhimber and Gujrat have hailed the elevation of Mr Justice Alvi as Chief Justice of AJK High Court. Others who welcomed his elevation included Secretary General Kashmir Peace Institution and Senior Deputy Editor Syed Hameed Shaheen Alvi, advocate Malik M Hayat, Mian Abdur Rahman and advocate M. A. Aziz and dozens of senior lawyers and social/political elders.
